To everyone from the Tharwa community -

Thanks to everyone who came along to the Public Forum and made the Tharwa community presence felt. It was great to see the ministers being bombarded with questions from Tharwa parents and friends. Our Tharwa kids even organised themselves to sing the Tharwa school song in fron of Minister Barr.

Definitely this event has had an impact, ensuring our fight stays in the media and our strengths and commitment is on display to the government. It was fantastic to see Tharwa parents using their opportunity to speak face-face with the government decision makers and let their feelings be known. As a result of this forum we have a better idea of some strategies that we can use to work with the government to save our school. This week Karim, Trish and myself are meeting privately with government reps and we will be working with information collected at the public forum to come to a resolution regarding Tharwa school.

In the meantime, keep up your letter-writing, media appearances and of course your fighting spirits!

Please consider inviting yourself and your whole family. In this way our whole community goes-all of us who will be affected by the proposed changes; and the ministers get to meet us all, and hear from us all. literally.

Background information on our various directions for action is being collected in preparation for an informed discussion at the whole school and community meeting next Tuesday night. In the mean time, we consider of the utmost importance that you RSVP to the Tuggeranong Community meeting open invitation.
