ACT Govt accused of fudging school cost figures
From ABC news
The ACT Government has been accused of fudging the figures used to justify school closures.
The Liberal’s education spokeswoman, Vicki Dunne, says the Minister, Andrew Barr, was caught out at a public meeting last night.
Ms Dunne says he conceded the average student cost for some schools included special education units, which cost more to run than mainstream classrooms.
“The Minister had up on the overhead last night the cost of running Melrose Primary School per student and didn’t bother to say that that included a number of children who were in autism and other special education units,” she said.
“That was clearly deceptive and I need to see those figures fixed and the community needs to see those figures fixed.”
