Tharwa School - Bringing Diversity to ACT Education
If you’ve seen the signs around Tharwa and along Tharwa Drive – you’ve read right!!! Tharwa primary school is currently welcoming enrolments from families who want to be part of the best little school in Canberra, with parents saying “We will be open next year regardless of the ACT Govt’s decision. Our school is viable and offers something different that is attractive to many ACT families. Other organisations see the potential our school has and will be happy to support a community school if the ACT Govt is not prepared to keep educational opportunities in Tharwa”. The Preschool is open for enrolments for 2007, with the likelihood of extra sessions being offered to meet demand for the classes which operate within the school’s multi-age classroom model.
The school Board will now be making efforts to increase enrolment numbers to a level deemed acceptable by the government in order to avoid closure under the Towards 2020 proposal. With some exciting strategies to achieve this, parents and supporters believe the school offers an attractive alternative to its larger counterparts for children who thrive in a rural setting, family atmosphere or whom will reach their potential more easily in a small school environment. Lanyon cluster, which includes the unique Tharwa bush school, is known around the world for its exciting educational ideas, and plans to highlight and develop the diversity Tharwa brings to this group will see the school move to new strengths in 2007. Does the ACT Government want to be a part of the unique schooling Tharwa can offer?
Support the best little school in Canberra by enrolling your child now.
