About Tharwa Primary and Pre-School

Tharwa Primary and Pre Schools

Tharwa Primary School aims to develop skills and understandings in children by providing learning experiences which encourage children’s desires to learn, provide opportunities for clear thinking, foster creativity, and enable children to develop and assess values. The school has a strong focus on the role of community in our lives and fosters a cohesive, supportive community spirit.

Education at Tharwa is characterised by:
-a pre-school education environment incorporated within the primary school facility providing our littlest ones with the nurturing community spirit of the school;
-Kindergarten to Year 6, currently grouped in 2 classes, allowing for a wide age and ability range working in a cooperative environment;
-the development of self reliance and the ability to work independently;
-provision of extensive opportunities in a wide range of fields;
-encouragement of creativity and problem solving;
-promotion of self esteem, respect, responsibility for self and the community.

The school has 29 students enrolled in the primary school and 14 in the preschoo. With a 15 students enrolled at the pre-school for 2007 already and another 15 on the waiting list, plans have been underway for a small refurbishment to accomodate the increasing demand for local, community-focused schooling for our children.
