Tharwa School Song

As part of the healing process post 2003 Canberra Bushfires, the students of Tharwa wrote their school song.

Its a little place,
near the Murrumbidgee
Where the gum tree stands like a king.
Where everyone can smile,
Smiles to each other
And the summer is hotter than you think

Its Tharwa, Tharwa, Tharwa is it name
Tharwa, Tharwa no other village is the same

It’s a little place
that like a village
With a shop that’s run by Val
Its a world away
from the Canberra suburbs
Everyone there
Can really help out

Its Tharwa, Tharwa, Tharwa is it name
Tharwa, Tharwa no other village is the same

When Mount Tennent was ablaze,
we were stuck like in a maze
But we survived,
With the drama at it’s height,
we fought with all our might,
But we survived, yes we survived.

It was a little place
that’s stepping forward
now the time has moved along
For all the people
who all together
face the future forever strong

Its Tharwa, Tharwa, Tharwa is it name
Tharwa, Tharwa no other village is the same
